HS 404Q, also known as Hunter`s Point Campus is a new, five-story, 145,000 SF building located next to the East River. A 1,071 student shared facility was the first building to go up for the Hunters Point South Development Project. The project was built in full compliance of Wicks Law. MP Engineers provided a Project Manager to represent the New York City School Construction Authority as a Project Officer/ Construction Manager, which required working with a variety of city and state agencies, including the Mayor`s office, QMTA, HPD, EDC, DEP and DOT while the infrastructure of three blocks, including a park and two 30 plus story high-rise buildings were constructed. The building was built 11 ft. off the north tube of the Queens Midtown Tunnel which required monitoring of the QMT during foundation/caisson phase, some project challenges included extensive dewatering, soil remediation, subsurface probing and an installation of new Con Ed transformer vaults and a diving bell bus vault under a negotiated developers` agreement with Con Ed. The Project Manager`s responsibilities included but were not limited to, design review & comment, coordinating pre-bid site visits, scheduling and conducting pre-construction meetings, providing daily progress photos and reports, coordinating and facilitating bi-weekly progress meetings, and coordinating the installation of site utilities with various agencies. Duties also required monitoring of the project schedule, approving a schedule of values and monthly payment requisitions, processing/negotiating change orders, overseeing coordination, scheduling technical inspections, special inspections, tracking regulatory requirements/facilitating TR`s, monitoring quality control & site safety, assembling closeout documents, as well as supervising and directing other Project Officers and the administrative support staff.
